Mammoplasty and Mastopexy Instructions

Reading the below tips and instructions for Mammoplasty and Mastopexy which are provided by Dr. Hadi Amali, will help you to have a better recovery period after Mammoplasty and Mastopexy . 

1) For 3 days you have maximum amount of pain but it will reduce little by little. For the first 3 days after the surgery, please use semi-cold compress on the breasts (10 times a day - each time 10 mins). Starting the 4th day after the surgery, you should use semi-warm compress for 3 days (5 times a day - each time 10 mins).

2) During the sleeping time, please sleep with a degree of 30. You can use two pillows under your head.

3) During the first week after the surgery, please don't do exhausting activities by the way normal daily activities are necessary. Total-bed-rest is prohibited as it can cause blood clotting.

4) During the first two weeks after the surgery, you should minimize the use of salt in your foods.

5) Having bruising on the breasts and around the cut lines are normal.

6) It's recommended to include Pineapple and Vitamin C in your diet after the surgery.

7) It's recommended to include vegetables, fish and omega-3 in your diet after the surgery.

8) Plasma secretion is normal during the first week after the surgery but if you have extreme bleeding after the surgery, please keep Dr. Amali or his assistant informed.

9) Your drains can be removed 5 to 7 days after the surgery. The stitches are absorbale and there is no need to remove them.

10) You should wear special bra as long as it's recommended by Dr. Amali.

11) Breasts being numb is normal for a few months after mammoplasty/mastopexy . 

12) Using tobacco will delay the healing process. Please try to avoid it for 2 weeks after the surgery.

13) You can start driving 1 month after the surgery.

14) You should stop using hookah, cigarettes and hormonal drugs, 2 weeks before the surgery.

15) You should stop taking Aspirins or other anticoagulant medicines and alcoholic drinks, at least 3 to 4 days before the surgery.

16) For the first 2 weeks after the surgery, please use antibiotic creams (Gentamisin) on the cut areas twice a day and please wash the cut area only with washing serum.

17) 2 weeks after , in order to remove the scar lines, you should start using silicone cream and silicone tape on the wound area, for 3 to 6 months. The silicone cream and silicone tape should not touch an open wound. 

18) You can start sleeping on your abdomen 3 months after the surgery.

19) You can start massaging the cut areas, 2 weeks after the surgery. Please use body lotion or olive oil during the massage.

20) The main parameter in healing process of the scars (cut lines) depends on the patient's skin type.

21) You should include multivitamin in your diet (one tablet per day) for 4 weeks after the surgery.

22) Your bruising and swelling can last till 2 or 3 weeks after the surgery.

23) You can start swimming 2 months after your surgery.

24) You can start light-exercises 2 months after the surgery and you can increase the pressure little by little.
