Post-Brow Lift Care

Hospitalization and Return Home

  • There is no need for hospitalization after brow lift surgery, and the patient can return home on the same day.

Suture Care

  • Keep the suture sites clean.
  • If the incisions for the brow lift were made behind your hairline, no daily care is required.
  • If you have sutures in front of the hairline, lubricate the sutures three times a day with Gentamicin ointment.

Showering

  • You are allowed to shower three days after brow lift surgery.
  • Before starting the shower, cover the suture site with Gentamicin ointment.

Normal Symptoms After Surgery

The following are normal and usually resolve spontaneously after 4 to 5 days post-surgery:

  • Minor bleeding.
  • Redness.
  • Unusual discharge.

Swelling After Surgery

  • Swelling resulting from brow lift surgery varies from person to person.
  • Generally, swelling increases from the third day after surgery and then gradually subsides.
  • Swelling and bruising around the forehead and eyes are normal and may increase in the initial days.
  • Complete resolution of swelling and bruising may take several weeks.

Sleeping and Resting Position

  • Keep your head elevated with two pillows while sleeping and resting.
  • This helps improve blood circulation and reduces the severity of swelling and bruising.

Use of Cold Compresses

  • To reduce swelling and bruising, you can use cold compresses around the surgical area.
  • Due to skin numbness, avoid placing ice directly on the skin and using cold compresses for prolonged periods.

Suture Removal Time

  • Usually, sutures can be removed 10 days after brow lift surgery.

Movement Restrictions

Until the initial healing of the wounds, avoid the following:

  • Manipulating the suture sites.
  • Pulling the skin of the forehead and brows.
  • Massaging the surgical area.

Skin Sensation Changes

  • You may experience numbness, tingling, or altered sensation in the skin of the forehead and scalp after surgery.
  • This condition usually improves gradually and may last for several weeks or months.

Driving

  • Avoid driving until blurred vision or the effects of anesthesia and painkillers have subsided.

Final Note: Brow lift is an outpatient surgery with a relatively short recovery period. Strict adherence to the above points, especially suture care and the use of cold compresses, plays a key role in reducing complications and achieving the desired result.
